After Apple introduced the Car Key feature in 2020, competitors from Android got in on the action and introduced their own versions of digital car keys.
Oppo, OnePlus and vivo announced their digital car keys a few days before partnering with Nio. Now Xiaomi has chosen BMW to pilot its feature.
During the Xiaomi 13 series announcement event at this year's MWC in Barcelona, a Xiaomi spokesperson said that the company will provide digital keys to owners of some BMW models starting from the second quarter of this year.
Digital keys can be used to lock, unlock and even start your car. This feature is especially useful when you need to lend your car to someone.
You simply share your digital car keys with them, without having to lend your physical keys. Car Keys integrated with Google Wallet and other platforms.
