Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann also revealed at the preview event of the car that its SUV model Urus will also launch a plug-in hybrid version in 2024.
It should be noted that Lamborghini already makes and sells a hybrid – the limited-edition Sián FKP 37, partially electrified with a supercapacitor. The Urus plug-in hybrid version, which is expected to be launched next year, will use a powertrain similar to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid.
According to Pickpook, the car is currently equipped with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine and an electric motor with a combined output of 671 horsepower.
The Huracan successor, expected to debut in late 2024, will also be a plug-in hybrid. It's uncertain whether it will keep the naturally aspirated V10 or downsize to a V8, possibly in a twin-turbo configuration, while the Aventador successor, code-named LB744, keeps the V12, so the Huracan is expected to keep the V10 as well.
What comes after these two plug-in hybrids? Of course, Lamborghini's first pure electric car. Winkelmann revealed plans to launch its first all-electric model in 2028. He did not disclose specifics, but he has said in a previous interview with Auto Express that the car will have four seats, two doors and be more compact than a typical Lamborghini. The model has a higher ground clearance.
Lamborghini's second pure electric vehicle will be the Urus pure electric version, which will be officially unveiled around 2029.
