According to the "Hong Kong Economic Times" report, a course at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology encourages students to use ChatGPT in their midterm reports and promises to give extra points.

The person in charge of the course, Associate Professor and Senior Consultant (Entrepreneurship) of HKUST Huang Yueyong believes that ChatGPT will have a profound and irreversible impact on the way of learning in the future, which can enhance the depth of knowledge and creativity of students, and calls on the education community to practice its application as soon as possible and discuss its impact.

Earlier this month, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was the first to announce that it is up to teachers to decide whether to allow students to use ChatGPT.

Huang Yueyong said that unlike other Hong Kong universities that prohibit or restrict the use of ChatGPT or other AI tools, the management of HKUST hopes to encourage everyone to "learn as soon as possible." He also said that when scoring, more emphasis is placed on students' critical thinking and reflective abilities when interacting with ChatGPT.
