Mercedes-Benz Plans To Build A Global Charging Network Covering China, Open To All Electric Vehicles

According to reports, Mercedes-Benz, a subsidiary of Daimler, will build a global charging network covering North America, China, Europe and other major markets to support its charging when conditions permit before 2030. market to achieve the goal of full electrification.

Mercedes-Benz announced that it will begin construction of charging stations in North America. The company says that by 2027, it will have 400 high-power charging stations in the United States, containing 2,500 chargers, most of which will be located in urban centers and near major roads and retail centers in major cities.

While the charging network doesn't yet have a name, it will be the first visible result of a partnership between Mercedes-Benz, energy producer MN8 energy and EV charging network company ChargePoint. The charging network will be open to all electric vehicles to encourage the rapid adoption of electric vehicles.

So far, Mercedes-Benz has mainly relied on third-party charging networks. So building an entirely new charging network is a bold move for the company.

Report said that with the electric vehicle charging infrastructure, the company can not only obtain new revenue streams in the emerging electric vehicle charging market, but also provide the best charging experience for car customers.

Currently, Mercedes-Benz is accelerating its "electric first" strategy. In July 2021, the company said it would be fully electrified in markets where conditions permit by 2030.
