Although Tesla has not announced more information about the super factory they plan to build, according to reports, the scale of the Mexican super factory will be much larger than the Texas super factory they started construction in 2020 and put into production last year.
According reports from the mayor of the factory where the factory is located, Tesla’s Mexican super factory covers an area of nearly 4,200 acres, or about 25,495.2 acres, which will be much larger than Tesla’s current factories that have been built or are under construction.
Among Tesla's six main factories that have been put into production, the Texas Gigafactory occupies the largest area of about 2,500 acres, while the Mexican Gigafactory's 4,200 acres is nearly 1,700 acres larger.
In addition, according to foreign media reports, the Tesla Mexico Super Factory covering an area of about 4,200 acres will be more than twice the size of Mexico City International Airport. Due to the need to build a runway for aircraft to take off and land and a terminal building for passengers to enter and exit, the airport usually occupies a larger area, and an airport with multiple runways will be even larger.
Tesla’s Mexico Gigafactory, which covers a huge area, is expected to have a huge investment. According to relevant sources in Mexico, it will exceed 5 billion US dollars, and some people familiar with the matter revealed that it may be close to 10 billion US dollars.
